ASTDD Reducing Opioid Prescribing by Oral Health Professionals Policy Statement : ASTDD partnered with the University of Pittsburgh on numerous activities around dentists prescribing opioids for dental patients. ASTDD is pleased to announce our endorsement of the ADA endorsed 2023 / 2024 Acute Dental Pain Guidelines. Members of an expert panel together with representatives from the American Dental Association Science and Research Institute, University of Pittsburgh, and University of Pennsylvania cooperatively developed acute dental pain management guidelines to assist in managing acute dental pain for children (under 12 years of age), adolescents (aged 12 - < 17 years), adults (aged 17 - < 65 years), and older adults (aged ≥ 65 years).
